Exponential growth
Exponential growth occurs when the rate of growth of a mathematical function is proportional to the value of the current function. Exponential functions are part of the most important analyzes in mathematics and their applied fields in general.
To understand exponential growth
- Imagine an island with me at sea with a million people, suppose that the number of this island doubles every year, meaning after a year it will become 2 million, and another year 4 million, and a year 8 million
- Did you not notice that the population of the island took a whole year to double from 1 to 2 million, and if we count the population in the first year we will see the number between 1 to 2 million always start with 1 the length of the first year and by the end of the year the population will have reached 2 million, but in the year The second leading dijit, which is 2, will not complete an entire year in its place, such as the number 1, so the number 2 will be leading dijit for a less period, and after the leading dijit will be 3 before the end of the second year. leading dijit will be 4 at the end of the year .. same words on 4, 5, 6, and 7 because they will all participate to be leading dijit for the third year.
- The probability that you see the population of the island in any of the three years and the leading dijit is 1 is 1/3 because 1/1 takes a full year, 2 and 3 take a year and 4,5,6,7 take a year
- This is called exponential growth
- Which applies to the way the population in cities and countries changes in general, bank benefits on financial deposits, stock prices on the stock exchange, file size on computers, and radiation ratios of radioactive elements .... all of these things change in exponential growth method
